Craps Live by Evolution Gaming is the first of its kind. Up to now, no live casino studio has produced a live version of Craps for online casinos. So, with Craps being one of the most popular games at land based casinos, this game was met with huge appreciation. Craps is a social game played with friends around the table. Moreover, everyone playing gets a chance to throw the dice. So how has Evolution Gaming embraced this and adapted it to the online gaming environment?
Similar to their other popular dice games, Evolution Gaming has applied a mechanical arm to simulate the dice throws. Shooting Craps is a famous past time in the US, dating back almost a century ago to the 1920’s. So the game is set with a 1920’s look and feel and the croupiers are dressed accordingly. Most betting options are available and betting odds differ slightly. So let’s have a look if they managed to capture the essence of Craps.
Where Can I Play Craps Live?
Check out Craps Live at one of the top casino sites below.
How to Play Craps Live?
If you haven’t played Craps before, then it might be very confusing. Craps has its own terminology that you might not have heard about in other games. So, let’s start with the basics. You can also check out the tutorial in the game by clicking on the shirt and tie icon on the user interface. In land based casinos, the person throwing the dice is called the Shooter. But, in the live casino game, the Shooter is a mechanical arm. A croupier loads a pair of dice on to the Shooter’s arm before each game round begins. The outcome of the dice determine your betting results. Similar to other live dice games, Craps features many betting options. If you are just starting to learn how to play Craps Live, then we recommend one bet per round. Otherwise, it can be a bit overwhelming.
Phase 1: Craps Betting
When you have loaded up the game, look for the Easy Mode button for a simplified display. In easy mode, more complexed betting options will be hidden. So now, you will only see single roll betting options. If you are a seasoned player, then you can use the normal display mode where you have multi-roll betting options too.Β Now to place a bet, you first need to click the bet box and select your chip amount. Then place an actual bet, by click on one of the betting options on the table, like in the image below.
Phase 2: Shoot the Dice
To keep everything as fair as possible Evolution Gaming has developed a robotic arm for Craps Live. A croupier loads the dice on to the arm and then the arm tosses the dice to the other end of the table. Furthermore, the arm uses both a different speed and force for each throw to mimic a human throwing the dice. So, it keeps the action fair for everyone. Please note that both die need to hit the table wall for a throw to be deemed legal. If one or two of the die do not hit the wall, then the throw is invalid and the are will shoot again.
Phase 3: Betting Results – My Numbers
Once the dice have been cast, you can monitor how your bet is going in “My Numbers”. In this section, all the important info is shown about your bets and what numbers that you want to come. You can also see you payouts when your bets land. When this is over you go back to the betting phase, hopefully with some extra cash in the bank.
Evolution Gaming also added a little social feature to mimic the land-based Craps. Of course, you have the chat as the social function to talk to the croupier and other players. Moreover, Craps Live features a cheer and clap function during the round, for that extra immersion. This feature is also available to players that did not place a bet that round. Lastly, if you do not like the slow paced action of the live game, then you can also play the RNG version – First Person Craps.
Craps Live Betting And Payouts
Craps have many bets and by using the Easy Mode UI you start out with the one-roll bets. So let us take a look at those bets first. What are One-roll bets? They are pretty much as they sound like, you bet that with one roll of the dice your bet will land. Only a single roll is needed to win it.
Single Roll Bets
All the single bets and their payout are as follows:
- Field Bet – to win this bet you need the dice to show 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12. Payout is 1:1.
- Seven –Β landing on 7 pays out 4:1.
- Craps – if the dice show 2, 3 or 12 then it pays 7:1.
- 2 (Double 1) – pays out 30:1
- 3 (1 + 2) – pays out 15:1
- 11 (5+6) : pays out 15:1
- 12 (Double 6) – pays out 30:1
- C-E (Craps and Eleven) – Same as the Craps bet, but 11 added to the bet. If 2, 3 or 12 show then payout is 3:1, and if 11, then payout is 7:1.
Craps Live Dice Rolls
Before we go through the multi-roll bets we need to explain the Come Out Roll and the Point Roll. As what roll it is determining what bet you can place.
The Come Out Roll
On the Come Out roll, you want either of the roll point numbers to show: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. When they show, you will move on to the Point Roll stage. There are 2 bets that you can make on the Come Out Roll and your bet will remain in place until a point number lands.
The main purpose of the Come Our Roll is to create a point number for the Point Roll. When in the Point Roll stage, you don’t want the dice to land on a 7. Because then the stage ends. However, you do want the dice to show point numbers, so that you can win your bet.
On the Come Out roll, you will need to pick one of the below bets.
Pass Line – If it’s a 7 or 11 payout is 1:1. If it’s 2, 3 or 12 you lose.
Don’t Pass Line – Reverse from Pass line 2, 3 you win and 12 is a push.
The Point Rolls
Dice will continue to be shot up the table until they show a 7 or on the point number triggered from the Come Out roll. If a 7 is rolled the Don’t Pass Line bet is won and the game starts from the Come Out roll stage again. So unless you have done another bet, only 7 and the point number are important.
You can see what stage the table is in by checking the puck. If the puck shows OFF, then the next roll is the Come Out roll. And if it is ON, then it’s a Point roll.
Multi-Roll Bets
Multi-Roll bets are bets that are played during the Point Roll phase.
The Pass Line/Donβt Pass Line Can be won during the Come Out roll (see above), they win if the same point number is rolled again.
Come β This is the same as the Pass Line bet but it can be placed on any roll in the Point Roll phase. You can place as many Come bets as you want during the Point Roll phase.
Donβt Come β Same as Don’t Pass Line, but happens during the Point Roll phase.
Payout Pass/Don’t Pass Line – Come/Don’t Come bets pay out 1:1.
Take Odds
This is a bet on your Pass Line/Come bets that you still have on the table. You get betting odds on the point number you got from your Pass and Come being rolled before a 7. You win if the Pass or Come bet wins.
- 4 or 10 pays 2:1
- 5 or 9 pays 3:2
- 6 or 8 pays 6:5
Lay Odds
This is the same as the Take Odds but for the Donβt Pass or Donβt Come bet.
- 4 or 10 pays 1:2
- 5 or 9 pays 2:3
- 6 or 8 pays 6:5
Place to Win
You bet that a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 will be rolled before a 7 is rolled. Bets remain until a 7 is rolled.
- 4 or 10 pays 9:5
- 5 or 9 pays 7:5
- 6 or 8 pays 7:6
Place to Lose
You bet that no 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 nor 10 will appear before a 7 is rolled.
- 4 or 10 pays 5:11
- 5 or 9 pays 5:8
- 6 or 8 pays 4:5
Hard Ways
You bet on any of the following doubles (Double 2, 3, 4 or 5) to show before a 7 is rolled. If the dice show that same total as your hard ways bet, then it will only count if it’s a double.
- Double 2 or 5 pays 7:1
- Double 3 or 4 pays 9:1
Craps Live Betting Strategy & Tips
Live Craps by Evolution has an RTP of 99.17%. However, this applies to the Pass Line and Donβt Pass bets. The lowest RTP of 83.33% comes from bets like Field, Craps or Place to Win.
So, start with small bets to get a feel for the game. We also suggest that you start with Pass Line Bets and one roll bets to learn the game. The Odds bet is also a good bet that gives good payouts. You can turn on dealer assist to keep the stake on the table and any winnings to be paid to your balance. Once you are more familiar with Craps Live, then you can start exploring additional betting options.
6/8 Strategy
For this strategy you need to place a bet on Don’t Pass Line for the Come Out roll. When a Point Number has rolled you Place to Win the same bet amount on both 6 and 8. You want a 6 or 8 to show before a 7 is rolled. If you get an 8 or 6, then you can start spreading your bets on other numbers like 5 and 9.
Iron Cross Strategy
Here too you start off by placing a bet on Don’t Pass Line for the Come Out roll. Then you bet on the Field and Place To Win 5, 6, 8 (if possible). Your goal is to hit as many winning numbers before the Point number or 7 are rolled.
