What is Lightning Roulette?
As mentioned before, Lightning Roulette is our base game for all the comparisons. And the reason is simply because this was the first game of the genre. For those of you who are not familiar with the game, Lightning Roulette was the first live roulette game to incorporate win multiplier bonus features. In the regular version of Lightning Roulette, you find random multipliers that go up to 500x on straight-up bets. In the XXXtreme version, win multipliers can go up all the way to 2,000x. The lighting feature is what generates the win multipliers and gives off the name of the game title.
As the winning potential on each bet increased so did the popularity of the game. Due to the popularity, several other games got the lightning treatment such as: Lightning Baccarat, Lightning Dice and Lightning Blackjack.
What is PowerUP Roulette?
PowerUP Roulette from Pragmatic is their newest live roulette addition at the time of writing. It features win multipliers that are assigned after betting and are called PowerUP numbers. If the ball lands on one of the PowerUP numbers, then the game will go to the PowerUP round. In PowerUP roulette you don’t have to have a bet on straight up numbers to be able to participate in the PowerUP bonus round. However, you do need to have an active bet on a number to be able to win.
Once you get into the PowerUP round, all numbers will get assigned a multiplier ranging from 25x to 500x and new PowerUP numbers are assigned. The wheel is spun and the number it lands on gets the multiplier payout it has assigned. If it lands on another PowerUP number in the bonus round, then it will be spun another time. Thus, further increasing the multipliers across all numbers. In theory, this can happen max 5 times with a max multiplier of 8,000x.
Lightning Roulette VS PowerUP Roulette
PowerUP roulette is another Lightning roulette style game but it brings some new features. That you are able to enter the bonus round without having a bet on the PowerUP number is a great feature. Therefore, every round is much more engaging and exciting. In Lightning Roulette for comparison, you will only have a chance to land a multiplier win if you bet on the number that gets the multiplier assigned to it. Furthermore, only a few numbers get enhanced per round. Whereas, in PowerUP Roulette, in the bonus round all numbers are enhanced.
Lightning Roulette is a faster game to play as there isn’t the same bonus round mechanics. Additionally, Pragmatic’s game tends to have some lag to it, which can be frustrating at times. You also have the max multiplier of 8000x in PowerUP roulette vs 500x in regular Lightning roulette. So the possibility for a bigger win lies with PowerUP roulette.
