Top 3 Teams in ODI Cricket World Cup 2023

Let’s start off with the top 3 contenders first.

Team India

India

Top Batsmen: Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul
Top Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mo Shami, Mo Siraj
Top All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin
Prediction: Finalists

Team India played extremely well in the recently concluded 2023 Asia Cup, where they mercilessly demolished co-hosts Sri Lankans in the final. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill showed flashes of brilliance with memorable tons, with KL Rahul also producing a couple of impressive knocks. While the bowlers also impressed a lot in recent weeks, it must be noted that they are known to be inconsistent at times.

Recommendation: Kohli, Rahul, and Gill are firing on all cylinders, which means that Team India should be able to put up big scores. This team will be very hard to stop if Rohit Sharma starts contributing as well. Bet with confidence.

Team England

England

Top Batsmen: Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes
Top Bowlers: Harry Brook, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
Top All-Rounders: Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingston
Prediction: Finalists

The Brits have had a very low-profile preparation for this prestigious event with a few practice games against Ireland in recent weeks. Buttler and Bairstow will be asked to hit the ground running as they are very familiar with Indian pitches, with Joe Root anchoring the innings as he does best. Sam Curran and Moeen Ali are also seasoned IPL players and very effective all-rounders in Indian conditions.

Recommendation: England has a very talented and balanced squad that should be able to reach the finals. Buttler’s form in the last IPL was iffy at best and Bairstow is coming back from a major injury – two things you need to keep an eye on.

Team Australia

Australia

Top Batsmen: David Warner, Steve Smith, Travis Head
Top Bowlers: Josh Hazelwood, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc
Top All-Rounders: Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh
Prediction: Top-4

The Aussies always mean business in the big tournaments and this time isn’t going to be different. David Warner has been playing excellent cricket since IPL 2023 and even Steve Smith, primarily a test cricket player, has made some positive tweaks to his game. Stoinis and Ali will be asked to contribute as batsmen and also as bowlers, something they should not have a problem doing as experienced IPL players.

Recommendation: Australia is fielding an extremely talented team this time around and can beat any team on its day, but Maxwell has not been performing well this year. Keep an eye on him as the tournament reaches its conclusion.

3 Dark Horses in 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup

Now let’s move on to the three dark horses.

Team New Zealand

New Zealand

Top Batsmen: Kane Williamson, Mark Chapman, Will Young
Top Bowlers: Trent Boult, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson
Top All-Rounders: James Neesham, Glen Phillips, Mitchelle Santner
Prediction: Won’t Finish in the Top-4

The Kiwis are glad to have Kane Williamson back in action. The skipper suffered an unfortunate knee injury in the last IPL opener and has been rehabbing it ever since While he has been included in the squad, he hasn’t really played any warm-up games and we have our doubts when it comes to him regaining his form. This team has talent but is too dependent on the ailing Williamson.

Recommendation: Williamson will probably be load-managed in the opening games and we highly recommend keeping an eye on his fitness. New Zealand needs him to recapture his form in order to make the Top-4, which we doubt will happen.

Team South Africa

South Africa

Top Batsmen: David Miller, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks
Top Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee
Top All-Rounders: Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo
Prediction: Top-4

This South African side may seem lackluster and boring at first glance, but it actually has some talented players with plenty of IPL experience. Quinton de Kock and David Miller are more than capable of doing the heavy lifting in the batting department. Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada are proven and tested seamers, with the latter seen by many as one of the best in the world at the moment.

Recommendation: Not many expect South Africa to go far in this tournament. But if the aforementioned star players click and gel well against the top teams, we can see this team probably make the semis.

Team Pakistan

Pakistan

Top Batsmen: Babar Azam, Mo Rizwan, Saud Shakeel
Top Bowlers: Shaheen Afridi, Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf
Top All-Rounders: Iftikhar Ahmed
Prediction: Won’t Finish in the Top-4

Pakistan performed very poorly in the recent Asia Cup, with captain Babar Azam simply unable to perform under pressure. Mo Rizwan, once a dependable and productive opener, is now rather disappointing in his new middle-order role. While Afridi is arguably the best seamer on the planet today. His partner-in-seam Naseem Shah is going to miss out with a nagging hand injury.

Recommendation: We just don’t see this team achieving anything special on Indian soil, with the hostile local crowds also contributing to this end. Azam and Afridi have to go on a rampage to make something happen. Possible? Yes. Likely? Not really.

Unpredictable Betting Options

There are four teams that have little to offer. We highly recommend staying away from games involving these teams. As they have little to no star power, with multiple semi-professional players in action. Even the games between these four teams are going to be unpredictable and unclear affairs that will be very tough to call. Steering clear of uncertainty is our general recommendation.
