Mumbai Indians (MI)

Batting aces, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, were supposed to spearhead the team’s attack, but they were both in poor form when the season started. Yadav is on fire now, based on his amazing century in England. Mumbai are a very wealthy team so they can afford adding multiple top superstars. Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Quinton de Kock are all raring to go.

Will Mumbai Indians bounce back from their poor start? Highly probable. But can this star-studded team go all the way? Team chemistry needs to improve fast, otherwise performances will be under par. Rajasthan Royals are knocking on the door and it will be a tight battle for 4th position. We predict a reversal in the negative trend. Mumbai Indians should reach the playoffs.

Revised Prediction: Expect all MI games to be high scoring encounters, especially with the team now desperate to climb up the rankings fast.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Many cricket pundits and fans made fun of aging legend M.S. Dhoni and his Chennai team. But things have been working out fine for the Yellows from Madras this season. Raturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, and Moeen Ali have become consistent contributors. Additionally, last year’s tragic hero, Suresh Raina, has lost some weight and is showing glimpses of what made him a true IPL superstar a decade ago.

Ravindra Jadeja is another reliable member of the team. He can score runs effortlessly and is also showing a unique knack for taking key wickets when required. Dhoni is doing a good job of orchestrating the act, but he will be required to score some runs too as the season progresses and games get tighter. We fully expect to see CSK in the final-four stage this season.

Prediction: A redemption year is not an unrealistic expectation anymore. CSK has a 5-2 record so far and we expect this trend to continue.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – IPL 2021 Reboot Surprise

RCB is probably the most unpredictable team this season. Megastar, Virat Kohli, is iffy at best with his batting. He hasn’t been able to produce a century in any format for over 2 years and this poor form (by his standards) is continuing this season. However, Kohli’s leadership skills are very good, which are translating into good results for the Bengeluru side.

AB de Villiers is the main anchor in the batting order. And he is not alone. RCB took a gamble with Glenn Maxwell, and he is been producing big returns. Additionally, Devdutt Padikkal is the leading bowler in a potent bowling attack. Mohammed Siraj and Kyle Jamieson are doing a decent job with the bowling as well. But will this continue?

Prediction: Team chemistry is looking good, but will Kohli rediscover his form in time for the playoffs? We believe RCB will be in the final four!

Delhi Capitals (DC) – IPL 2021 Reboot Favourites

Despite a minor hiccup against the Rajasthan Royals in the second game of the season, Delhi Capitals started off exactly where they stopped last season. Delhi has a great balance between batting prowess and bowling options. It’s no coincidence that Delhi top the standings, albeit with an extra game played. Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant are the batting stars of the team. Additionally, Prithvi Shaw is finally living up to expectations and emerging as one of India’s best batsmen. Shaw has improved his conditioning and technique, which is translating into effortless 50s for the Delhi Capitals.

Prediction: If batting continues to produce many runs and Rabada snap out of his funk, then Delhi should go all the way.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

In the first part of the season, Rajastahn and RCB were the surprise teams. Sanju Samson was on fire in the first few games, before suffering a sudden drop in form. However, Jos Buttler and Shivam Dube picked up the slack and led the team to some impressive wins against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.

Many things have to go right for this team to achieve sustainable success this season. Firstly, Samson has to find a way to contribute decent knocks. Secondly, the bowling attack has to keep performing. Chetan Sakariya, Kaydev Unadkars and Mustafizur Rahman were all unknown names in 2020, but teams will be better prepared to face them in the 2021 IPL reboot.

Prediction: RR are the perfect “high risk, high reward” option. When everything clicks, they can beat any team.

Punjab Kings (PK)

Punjab Kings is another unpredictable team. Chris Gayle, although much older now, has actually come out with a few breathtaking performances. He doesn’t have any consistent help though. Mayank Agarwal has been the only reliable option in the lineup, while Dawid Malan and Deepak Hooda are failing to click. Will this trend continue? We highly doubt it.

When it comes to PK’s bowling capabilities, the same can be said like their batting. Ruler Meredith, Ravi Bisnoi, and Chris Jordan are not consistent or even reliable. Mohammed Shami is capable of turning in game-winning performances, but this is not a sustainable strategy to make it to the playoffs. We don’t have high expectations from this Punjab team.

Prediction: The Punjab Kings will surely finish in the bottom 3, despite the fluke wins in the first half of the season.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – IPL 2021 Reboot Losers

Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL in 2012 and 2014, when Gautham Gambir was still active. But those days are long gone. KKR is a bottom-half team that simply doesn’t have enough quality to make an impact. Andre Russell was one of the most powerful players in the league, but he turned up overweight this time around. We have little reason to believe that this will change.

Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik are doing a decent job when it comes to bat time, but the quality simply isn’t there. Bowling is also very weak and inconsistent. Shivam Mavi, Varun Charravarthy, and Sunil Narine are simply not capable of denting the defense of the top batsmen in the league today. KKR is in rebuilding-mode and nobody can argue with this fact.

Prediction: KKR is a strong candidate to finish last this season. Almost a sure bet to lose all games against top-table teams.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Lastly, we have Sunrisers Hyderabad. They have made five playoff appearances in the last seven seasons, but the chemistry seems to be off this season. SRH has won just 1 out of 7 games so far. David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Jonny Bairstow are scoring a lot, but there is no help this season. Kedar Jadhav and Abhishek Sharma are not clicking. SRH has no decent middle-order to help the stars.

Moreover, Rashid Khan has been a shell of himself this season. Khaleel Ahmed, Siddharth Kaul, and Vijay Shankar are also performing below expectations and letting the team down. Even when SRH manages to put up a decent score on the board, their bowling is simply not able to defend it. So, this basically sums up the season for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Prediction: We don’t expect SRH to stay in last place for long, but don’t expect to see them in the playoffs either.

As predicted earlier this season, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will be the top scoring teams. But, can RCB stay the course and make yet another finals appearance? CSK has also risen from the ashes and can go all the way again. Regardless of your opinion, we advise you to bet responsibly and follow us on Twitter for real-time info and updates.
