Manchester City

Last Season: 1st, This Season (Prediction): 1st
In: Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips |  Out: Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus

Pep Guardiola led The Citizens to an impressive domestic title last season, despite faltering yet again in the Champions League. We don’t expect this trend to change this season, as he is now boasting Erling Haaland in his starting lineup. The dynamic striker is expected to become the focal point of the attack and we’ll be extremely disappointed if he doesn’t score over 30 goals this season.

LCI Recommendation: Sterling is gone, but with Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, and Riyad Mahrez still in service, we expect Man City to defend their title successfully.

Liverpool

Last Season: 2nd, This Season (Prediction): 2nd
In: Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho |  Out: Sadio Mane, Ben Davies

Jurgen Klopp is arguably the best coach in the world today and what he has achieved with this less than dazzling squad is truly admirable. Mo Salah has decided to stay on, but Sadio Mane’s sale can prove to be very costly. Yes, Nunez, Carvalho, and the trustworthy Firmino should be able to perform well, but they lack the speed and defensive skills that Mane brought to the table. However, they have two of the best wing backs in the league, with Trent and Robertson, who can deliver exceptional balls to Nunez inside the box. Having a proper target man compared to previous seasons, could be the X-factor that helps Liverpool recapture the title.

If the Charity Shield showed anything, it was that the new signings have integrated very well, making Liverpool potent in front of goal.

LCI Recommendation: Continuity and team chemistry should ensure another top 3 finish for The Reds. Leave it to Klopp to turn this team into serious title contenders.

Darwin Nunez liverpool

Chelsea

Last Season: 3rd, This Season (Prediction): 4th
In: Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly |  Out: Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea flopped spectacularly in the final stages of last season, just as Romelu Lukaku. But with the political drama surrounding Roman Abramovic now a distant memory, the Blues are ready to challenge for the title. There are some question marks around the new look defense, but Koulibaly and Chalobah should be able to hold down the fort. If they can stay healthy they could challenge for a Top 3 finish, but history is not on their side.

LCI Recommendation: Thomas Tuchel is a brilliant footballing mind and he should be able to lead Chelsea to an easy top-3 finish if they stay healthy.

Tottenham

Last Season: 4th, This Season (Prediction): 3rd
In: Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Clément Lenglet, Yves Bissouma |  Out: Steven Bergwijn

When you have the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son spearheading your attack, it’s all about fine-tuning. Antionio Conte has done just that. Richarlison should easily slide into the attack and help the Spurs form a killer trio up front. Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr add more toughness in the midfield alongside the veteran Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg. Lenglet should help solidify the defense.

LCI Recommendation: LCI confidently predicts a top-3 finish for Conte’s Spurs this season, assuming there won’t be any major injuries. An elite EPL team.

Arsenal

Last Season: 5th, This Season (Prediction): 5th, Top 3
In: Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko |  Out: Alexandre Lacazette

Michel Arteta has become a household name at the Emirates. His teams play just like Man City, with the only thing lacking being quality. Gabriel Jesus should do well in his new team, just don’t expect him to be the savior. The defense is still going to be shaky. Solid playmakers, Saka and Odegaard could have monster seasons filled with assists and goals. Yet they will still fall short of the title. It will all come down to how well they perform against the top teams and the bottom dwellers that have caused them problems in previous seasons.

LCI Recommendation: Expect more of the same from Arsenal. This team will be great at home and against inferior sides, but less so against the Top-4.

Manchester United

Last Season: 6th, This Season (Prediction): 8th
In: Lisandro Martínez, Christian Eriksen |  Out: Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata

When Manchester United’s biggest signing of the summer is a good center-back from Ajax, you know the future is grim. Pogba, Cavani, and Mata have left the team, as has Jesse Lingard. Rashford, Sancho and Martial will get an extended run this year, but there is little to no quality in the midfield. Eriksen is not the player he once was. The best-case scenario has him becoming a decent rotation piece. Can Ten Haag finally get Man United on the right track. We think not.

LCI Recommendation: LCI is sorry to disappoint the Indian Manchester United fans, but Champions League football is still a few years away.

Westham United

Last Season: 7th, This Season (Prediction): 7th
In: Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd |  Out: Andriy Yarmolenko, Mark Noble

Westham United started off last season impressively, with Michail Antonio going on an unexpected scoring spree. But the team lost steam as the season progressed, with the poor defense getting exposed time after time. Scamacca and Aguerd should be able to clog some holes, but has Westham done enough on the flanks, defensive midfield and in attack? Unfortunately, the answer is a big no.

LCI Recommendation: Westham United needed to invest more in bringing in talent over the summer, but that hasn’t been the case. Expect another mediocre season.

Leicester City

Last Season: 8th, This Season (Prediction): 10th
In: Dennis Praet |  Out: Eldin Jakupovic

Jamie Vardy. James Maddison. Youri Tielemans. These three names pretty much sum up the star power Leicester City possesses. But these three usually pack a powerful punch that’s enough to down more than half of the EPL teams. Last season was a disappointment due to nagging injuries, but assuming all are back in form, we expect this team to rule the mid-table with relative ease. Their rock in goal, Schmeichel, has moved on. So, we expeccct Leicester’s poor defense to leak even more goals.

LCI Recommendation: Leicester City is a classic example of maximizing potential with minimal resources and funding. However, this season they will not fair so well.

Brighton

Last Season: 9th, This Season (Prediction): Lower mid-table.
In: Julio Enciso |  Out: Yves Bissouma

Brighton has had a decent run in the EPL but things are not looking good this summer. No major signings have been made and the team is full of average talent at best. With most mid-table teams getting better, this Brighton squad looks destined for mediocracy. This team will find it hard to score and obviously won’t be able to hold back rival attacks. An uphill battle from the very start. If they can keep Cucarella and Trossard can catch some form, then that could swing some matches in their favour.

LCI Recommendation: Brighton is a likable EPL team that usually outperforms, but losing Bissouma and not bringing in reinforcements will spell disaster.

Wolves

Last Season: 10th, This Season (Prediction): 16th
In: Nathan Collins, Hee-chan Hwang |  Out: Rúben Vinagre

Wolves are a legitimate mid-table team and we don’t expect that to change this year. This team is probably the best wild card in the league and can surprise any team on its day. Raul Jiminez will probably be unavailable in August due to a nasty knee injury, something that can hamper the team’s progress. This means that new signing Hee-chan Hwang will have to produce from the get-go.

LCI Recommendation: LCI has always believed that the Wolves can pack a deadly punch on its day, but it will have a tough time without the injured Jiminez.

Newcastle

Last Season: 11th, This Season (Prediction): 11th
In: Sven Botman, Nick Pope |  Out: Dwight Gayle

Newcastle has not broken the bank this summer, but has added some very promising local starlets to its rearguard, where it suffered the most last season. Botman, Targett, and Pope should be able to bolster the defense. Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin spearhead the attack and can. The midfield is still a department where this team needs to add more talent.

LCI Recommendation: Newcastle is a name with a lot of sentimental value, but we predict another mid-table finish for this slightly-improved team.

Crystal Palace

Last Season: 12th, This Season (Prediction): Mid-table
In: Cheick Doucouré, Chris Richards |  Out: Jaroslaw Jach

Crystal Palace has become a name to reckon with in recent years, thanks to its brattish and physical style of play. Doucouré has been brought in to boss the defensive midfield, something that should make this team more dynamic. But the overall quality of the squad is still lacking, especially in defense and the wings. Expect more of the same this season from Crystal Palace.

LCI Recommendation: Michael Olise, Wilfried Zaha, and Odsonne Edouard can puncture any defense when on form. Palace should be decent at home.

Brentford

Last Season: 13th, This Season (Prediction): 19th
In: Keane Lewis-Potter, Aaron Hickey |  Out: Marcus Forss

We’ll try to keep it simple. Brentford simply isn’t that good. Ivan Toney and Yoane Wissa are physical and strong forwards, but when they are your best players, things don’t look too promising. The left flank has been reconstructed with local boys Hickey and Lewis-Potter, but there simply isn’t enough talent in midfield to bother more than half of the EPL teams this season. That’s the bitter truth.

LCI Recommendation: Tighten your seatbelts Brentford fans. It’s going to be a rough and bumpy season with a long relegation battle.

Aston Villa

Last Season: 14th, This Season (Prediction): 10th
In: Diego Carlos, Philippe Coutinho |  Out: Matt Targett

Aston Villa is a stubborn and tough team that has become an EPL mainstay of late. This team had registered multiple surprises against top teams and it just got better. The dependable Danny Ings will now be serviced by Coutinho, Emiliano Buendía, and Bertrand Traoré. Assuming this team stays healthy and Carlos manages to clog some holes, we expect a major improvement with a solid mid-table finish. One player to watch is Bailey. His quick pace and eagerness to shoot may yield important points for Villa.

LCI Recommendation: Villa struggled last season due to a lack of options in attack and a porous defense. All issues have been addressed.

coutinho aston villa

Southampton

Last Season: 15th, This Season (Prediction): 14th – 17th
In: Gavin Bazunu, Sekou Mara, Romeo Lavia  |  Out: Shane Long

Southampton doesn’t have a strong financial jetpack, but still managed to get better with a series of strategic signings. These are not stars by any way or form, but solid additions that should be enough to keep this team afloat for another season. Che Adams and Adam Armstrong are this season’s attacking duo, but service will be iffy at best with Nathan Redmond being the only creative option in midfield. James Ward-Prowse is undoubtedly their biggest goal threat, but that’s only with set pieces. We feel they’ll be stuck in a possible relegation battle this season.

LCI Recommendation: Southampton will be looking to enter the holiday season with enough points to steer clear of the relegation zone. It should be able to do so.

Everton

Last Season: 16th, This Season (Prediction): 14th – 17th
In: Ruben Vinagre  |  Out: Richarlison

Frank Lampard is not a happy man. He just lost his biggest star without bringing in a decent replacement. All eyes will be on Ruben Vinagre. Will the loaned starlet from Sporting be able to produce at the top level? Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be the focal point of the Everton attack and it remains to be seen if Vinagre, Alex Iwobi, and Dele Alli can give him decent service, especially against the better teams.

LCI Recommendation: Everton is not expected to do great things this season, but it should have enough to stay afloat for another season.

Leeds United

Last Season: 17th, This Season (Prediction): 9th
In: Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams, Marc Roca  |  Out: Raphinha

Raphinha will no longer be seen in a Leeds United shirt as he has been sold to Barcelona. But the funds from the transfer have been reinvested in youtube talent that should blend in seamlessly in the team’s attacking philosophy. Most of the new signings are from the Bundesliga. Keep an eye on Adams, a speedy and crafty box-to-box midfielder that can help the team where it suffered the most last season.

LCI Recommendation: LCI is predicting a breakthrough season for many Leeds players and the team should be able to challenge for Europa League spots this year.

Bournemouth

Last Season: Championship, This Season (Prediction): 20th
In: Joe Rothwell  |  Out: Robbie Brady

Taking a closer look at the Bournemouth squad reveals a very grim picture. A ton of local lads with very little foreign reinforcements. Dominic Solanke is the only true star this team has and we expect opposing teams to mark him closely. This will essentially nullify this team’s ability to create goal scoring opportunities. It’s going to be a very rough season for the newcomers, with around 5 wins in total.

LCI Recommendation: We hate to be harsh with the newcomers, but this Bournemouth team simply doesn’t have the quality to survive in the EPL.

Nottingham Forest

Last Season: Championship, This Season (Prediction): 16th
In: Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, Moussa Niakhaté, Jesse Lingard |  Out: Samba

Of all the new teams in the league, we think that Nottingham Forest has the best chances of avoiding relegation. The team has spent decent amounts of money on key signings and if the chemistry is good, this team can definitely survive the battle of relegation. Jesse Lingard will be given the keys in the midfield and he will be responsible for most ball-handling and goal-creating opportunities.

LCI Recommendation: Nottingham Forest will be fielding a decent side that can occasionally surprise mid-table teams. Wild bets are open with this team.

Mitrovic Fulham Premier League

Fulham

Last Season: Championship, This Season (Prediction): 17th
In: João Palhinha, Andreas Pereira |  Out: Zambo Anguissa

Fulham is back in the top flight but it will face a demanding relegation battle from the very beginning. It does have some very interesting propositions on display – Harrison Reed, Manor Solomon, and Harry Wilson, just to name a few. Assuming Palhinha manages to boss the midfield and distribute the ball to the wingers, striker Aleksandar Mitrović should be able to pull off a 20-goal campaign.

LCI Recommendation: LCI doesn’t expect Fulham to be a force to take note of this season, but it should be able to secure the last spot above the red zone.
